History

Miss Letha Raney was born in Albany, Oregon on November 29, 1894. Her family moved to Corona in 1899 traveling in a covered wagon which held her parents, four older brothers and one older sister. Corona was a different town then. Almost everyone lived within the Grand Boulevard circle area. Miss Raney's first day of school in Corona was just as the new century started. "I was escorted to (Lincoln) school by two older brothers and told to stand at the foot of the steps until the bell rang and the teacher came for me; six other little girls who stood there also were later graduated with me from Corona High."
Letha Raney attended Los Angeles Normal College for two years. It was a teacher training college. She graduated from USC.
Miss Letha Raney started teaching in 1912. She was the principal of Washington School in 1916. In 1922, she became the principal of Corona Junior High. She remained there until she retired in 1952. 
Miss Raney devoted her life to educating children.
 On April 19, 1966, Letha Raney Junior High was named in her honor & in 1983 she passed away.
